The Top 5 Plays of 2014.

The Orioles season might be over, but it was one that we'll remember for a while.
The Baltimore Orioles finished their season with a record of 96-66 at top of the AL East. At the end of the season, they were 12 games ahead of the 2nd Place AL East team, the Yankees. After winning the Division Title, they went on to sweep the Detroit Tigers in three games. Although they were stopped in their tracks by the Royals, it was a year that was filled with Orioles magic. Here are what I think are the top five plays from Baltimore's incredible season. These plays are ranked by me according to their importance, their athleticism, and their timing during the game.

5. Adam Jones robs a homer, then nabs runner going to second - O's vs. Rays

This was perhaps Adam Jones' best play of the season. During a game against their AL East rivals the Rays, Adam Jones leaped up over the wall to rob Evan Longoria's attempted home run. Then he manages to throw the ball from the all the way on the warning track (after recovering from catching the ball) to second base, with Schoop placing the tag on Matt Joyce. This play was an amazing feat to say the least, making him a very eligible candidate for a Gold Glove this year.

4. Nelson Cruz's game-changing triple - O's vs. Rays

Nelson Cruz was the addition to the Orioles that got them to the ALCS this year. Here's a play showing how he can get runs in when they are most needed.

3. Nelson Cruz hits a game-tying grand slam - O's vs. White Sox

Once again, here is another play where Nelson Cruz delivers during a crucial moment. With two outs, in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded, Cruz belts a grand slam, tying the game up at 4 and becomes the savior of this game for the O's.

2. Machado's diving stop - O's vs. Pirates

Although Machado was not able to complete the entire season with the O's due to his injury, he made some incredible plays during his time on the team in 2014. In this play, he turns a diving stop into a double play. His athleticism is truly admirable and inspiring.

1. Paredes' walk-off double - O's vs. Yankees

Not only was this double hit in the bottom of the eleventh inning, it was hit with bases loaded, two outs, and with a one-run deficit. Jimmy Paredes delivered for the Orioles, which contributed to them getting into this year's playoffs.

Well, it was a magical year for the Orioles, a year which they might or might not repeat in 2015.
